Haven Build It Week

Haven is an Irish Non Government Organisation working solely in Haiti since February 2009. Originally launched as a house and community building charity working in rural areas, Haven has been providing emergency relief to those displaced by the earthquake, which hit Port au Prince on 12th January, 2010. In April 2010, 300+ Irish Haven Volunteers travelling to Haiti to spend a week building houses. This, the 2nd Haven Build It Week, took place outside the rural town of Gonaives and was documented by Sixsem throughout. This video shows Build It Week volunteers talking about their experiences both on-site and visiting beneficiaries.

"The job that Haven gave Sixsem was to demonstrate and document in real time our volunteers’ efforts in Gonaïves, Haiti as well as our work in the earthquake-devastated capital city of Port-Au-Prince. Despite huge time constraints and a heightened working environment, this task was carried out with proficiency, creativity and focus. I hope to work with them again when further videos are required.”
